Shannon Hunter – Founder

Shannon started her dance training at the age of 4, performing at a young age across the country and entering RAD classical ballet examinations. Shannon went on to further her dance education under Nadia Potts at Ryerson University and then to the Oakville School of Ballet’s extensive Teacher Training Program where she received her RAD Teaching Certifications and Advanced Teaching Status with the Canadian Dance Teachers Association and Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance. Shannon trained with acclaimed teachers and examiners like Elizabeth Patterson, Anushka Roes, Maisie MacPhee, Amanda Patterson and Lee Tovey.

After years of teaching and entering students into examinations Shannon left the world of Dance to explore a life in business. Shannon spent the past 10 years as General Manager and VP of Sales for an International Sport Branding Company that allowed her to Travel and lead teams for large Branding projects with the Vancouver Olympics, FIFA Women’s World Cup, IAAF World Track and Field, Pan Am Games, Grey Cup, CFL, NHL and the MLB to name a few.

Shannon is now living her most important job in life as a mother of two girls. Her priority is to help create positive passionate learning environments of respect for ourselves and respect for others.  Finding ways to keep children’s passion alive in activities like Dance while creating lasting positive memories and friendships is her mission! Her hope is that IDC can be that positive environment for dancers of all ages for years to come. She lives to make an IMPACT.

Christina Wagg Marwick – Founder

Christina began dancing at the age of three in her hometown of Orillia, ON. She competitively danced in all available genres until her teenage years when she began to focus on her true passion of jazz, and lyrical. At this time, she was given the chance to become an assistant teacher, and she eagerly jumped at the opportunity. Christina has been teaching dance ever since, and she now holds over 20 years of experience as a teacher to students of all ages. Christina enjoys witnessing her students take pride in their achievements as they grow and improve as dancers.

With that, she also brings a strong business background and organizational skills that have been obtained from helping manage two family businesses as well as opening and operating her brand new adventure, Ballare The Dance Boutique located in Orillia, Ontario.
Christina is also a certified Pilates instructor, and a licensed aesthetician. She studied nursing and earned her certification from Georgian College and also completed and graduated with her Bachelor’s degree from Laurentian University.

Christina’s most important role in life is being a mom to her two beautiful daughters, Africa and Bella who are both competitive dancers. She takes pride in being a positive role model for them and to her dance students.
It is with passion, expertise and a love for dance that has led her to establish the most distinguished, LIVE Critique dance event in North America.
